Black Butterfly

Black Butterfly was a project thought of by Escape Music. They sent Steve an initial song called Step into the Wave. After Steve politely declined, Escape Music said, "you can change anything, rewrite it all".  Still not sure he wanted to participate, Steve sent the song to his webmaster asking for lyrics and where the melody should come in. Steve got another burst of inspiration and the song was now called The Piper, completely overhauled from the original submission. It was really Escape Music's project as opposed to a true Steve Walsh solo album. In fact, there are three tracks where Steve didn't participate at all. Steve wrote his melody line and other writers (mostly Tommy Denander) wrote the rest of the songs around that. Escape Music did all the rest and gathered up all the musicians that would accompany Steve after Steve sent his tracks in.  He had no input on final mixes. Steve did not know or choose who the musicians would be, with one wonderful exception, he had his daughter sing on a track with him, Nothing but Nothing.
